Last April, the UP Department of Philosophy brought you the UPD-Cambridge Lecture Series. We are back and bigger than ever before!
The department cordially invites everyone to attend the 𝐔𝐏𝐃-𝐎𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 to be hosted 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐙𝐨𝐨𝐦 on 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟗, 𝟏𝟖, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟒 𝐏𝐌 𝐭𝐨 𝟔 𝐏𝐌 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬. Renowned philosophers from the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 will be sharing their expertise on novel and exciting topics.
On Saturday, November 9, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐖𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝, 𝐏𝐡𝐃 will be speaking on “𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐈-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥?”, a lecture on the latest research in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind.
On Monday, November 18, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐰, 𝐃𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥 (𝐎𝐱𝐨𝐧.) will be speaking on “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞”, a lecture on a famous thought experiment in the philosophy of religion.
On Saturday, November 23, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝, 𝐏𝐡𝐃 will be speaking on “𝐑𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐳𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐱𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧”, a classic debate in political and moral philosophy that continues to be relevant in our current social environment.
Each lecture will be followed by a Q&A session which will give attendees an opportunity to share their own insights and raise their own questions about the lectures. The event is 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜, but UP Diliman philosophy graduate and undergraduate students will receive prioritized slots should the registration cap be exceeded. The Zoom link will be sent via e-mail to registrants before the lecture series.
